Weekly Summary (17th April 2023)

It’s the last week of Ramadan and I’ve barely started to edit any videos or do anything on the charity project. Every year, I try to raise money for the less fortunate in our community who are sleeping rough by making regular videos throughout Ramadan. This year, I simply haven’t had the time to do so. That said, I did finally set up a donation link which I’ll match dollar for dollar so you can double your impact.

At some point this week, I’ll have to start editing the videos I’ve taken all month long and splice them into something cohesive. It all just requires a block of 2-4 hours continuous which I never seem to have these day…

It kinda relates to this week’s quote I suppose: too many things that are not organised by priority. Overall, I’m simplifying my working hours but for every 2 steps forward, there is one step back. One option is to actually do more non-clinical things at work to make work hours a bit more manageable and restful. While that’s nice, I do enjoy the clinical work more than anything else. Conundrums!

So what has been happening this week? Firstly, lots of phone calls and emails. If you’ve been reading, you’d know that we recently moved into a new apartment. This week, we finalised selling the old one 🎉🎉🎉This significantly frees up my mental RAM and finances so I can have one less headache and a more manageable mortgage. That said, the old apartment has been home for 7+ years and it’s still a bit bittersweet to let that go. But alas, new adventures await!

It’s been a pretty busy week of work and also social things. Given it was the last week of Ramadan and my parents love lively restaurants (I did not know this about them!), we ended up going to a place called Mint & Co for an Iftar buffet. I’m not generally a buffet person, but this place was PACKED and has 30+ options so I didn’t even try every dish! More than that, my parents enjoyed it.

Afterwards, they got so sleepy that they ended up staying the night at my apartment. Now ever since I’ve moved out of home, I’ve always stayed at their house but there’s never been the occasion in the 10+ years from the to stay with me so it felt…unusual, but also good to be able to accommodate them.

They seemed to really like the area. They live out in suburbia and constantly say they wouldn’t like living near the city but this time, I think I showed them just how many things were in a 1km radius that they would like and hence it’s changed their perceptions.

Tonight was another iftar dinner at one of my favourite Afghan restaurants: Lux Kebabs. It was nice being able to treat some of our friends that have had us over so many times but we never have returned the favour!

So after that busy a week, it’s time to sleep since tomorrow is an insanely busy day and it’s past midnight!
