As promised, this will be more of a compilation of the last fortnight.
Unpacked Week – NYC
As this was my third Unpacked, I knew to expect long, busy days and it lived up to the expectations. Half my family are in NYC and I knew I wouldn’t be able to spend time with them til the event finished. So I decided to see if I could keep my visit relatively secret and surprise them at the end.
- Lots AND LOTS of places in NYC seen through fresh eyes to highlight the features of the Z Fold 7
- Had always wanted to go see Summit Observatory at One Vanderbilt and that’s exactly where Samsung took us!
- Had a guided tour of NYC
- Our team won a bunch of the challenges!
- Managed to sneak in a dinner with some cousins without my aunts/uncles suspecting
- Family held a picnic BBQ on the weekend. After they started, I surprised everyone by simply turning up – the look on their faces!
The day after, it was time to head to Palo Alto and prepare for the week of the course.
- Managed to upgrade my flight and experience “domestic first class” in the US – turns out, coast to coast flights have lie flat beds!
- Ok, years of point hacks now paying off – I’m writing this from LAX and managed to upgrade this flight back home too!
- Met up with old friends from last year
- Also, its been a YEAR since my sabbatical started already?!
- Was featured on the SASI course updates newsletter – I realised maybe I have a resting angry face?
- Stanford felt… odd – on the one hand, I was reminiscing about last year, but the thing is, I was there for 3 months, not 3 years. So I had all these memories and almost this pseudo-nostalgia, because underneath the familiarity, there wasn’t as much. It’s my first time experiencing what I’d call “shallow-nostalgia” – it didn’t have the depth for the “normal” version
