Weekly Summary (30th March 2022)

After a lovely weekend off last weekend, it’s been a bit of a grinding slog this week. It looked like it’d be busy with 4 on calls in 7 days but I didn’t expect this! As I write this it’s just past midnight and I’m in hospital waiting to hear if we’re going to bring a sick ICU patient into theatre.

Scratch that… as I was typing that, I got the call that the plans changed and we’re off to stop the bleeding using interventional radiology. It’s going to be a looooooong night.

This week has been full of pretty interesting cases given the long hours at least. We’ve had lots of unexpected events happen and get to do some truly rare cases. In some instances, the challenges of these almost made up for all the late nights… Almost!

Despite the hours, I did manage to get to a dinner hosted by some work friends. It was such an amazing home cooked meal! It was a multi-course extravaganza that was better than many meals I’ve had at restaurants. If I have to entertain, I think I’ll just order out and pretend I cooked it…

In cat news, all this work has meant that I didn’t get a chance to do my ironing til much later in the week and over multiple sessions. It turns out, Gary has a fascination with my laundry bag! His choice of bedding location has Luna quite puzzled…
