It’s the day after on-call. It wasn’t even that late a finish but it took me most of the day to recover. I really am getting too old for this!
The Tesla needed servicing and I needed to catch up on paperwork. I was hoping to get cracking on a programming project but not the sort of day where I can concentrate on complex things…
At least I have the final images for the 2023 calendar almost sorted…

Yesterday was a late finish because of doing trial exams with the trainees at work. Today was a late finish at work then going to see off a friend who is moving to another state and leaving our hospital network.
It was good to see people outside of work for a change.

It’s Melbourne Cup day and it’s awesome having the day off. It seems like the start of the year is where all the public holidays are. Maybe they should be sprinkled in a bit more? Would love to have 1 a month. That would break things up quite nicely. I think on average that’s what it works out to if not a bit more anyway…
Weekly Summary
Last week was a busy one indeed. Not only with work, but also including a nice day trip down the coast of Victoria to catch up with friends I hadn’t seen since the pandemic! Somehow in all that, managed to squeeze in a flying lesson in the one tiny spot of sunshine in the torrential rains that have been happening in Melbourne and huge swathes of Australia.
This week was the first time I think I pulled off some multi-tasking at work. See, some times, we’re assigned to a list with some senior trainees that can basically do everything with close to no supervision. This sometimes is done when other department work needs to done such as meetings or exam prep etc, but I’m pretty terrible at being a supervisor and doing something at the same time unless it’s something very easy. This week however, I actually finalised my mock exams, did some things that actually required thinking while on one of these lists.
It may not seem like much to others who CAN actually multitask, but for me it was momentous! I can see the appeal now!
Also this week, I finally selected and edited the last of the images for the 2023 Photos by Raffy Calendar. It never ceases to amaze me as to just how good a photo you can take on a phone these days. At least half are from my old phone!
This week also meant a trip down to Wonthaggi where a friend has bought a beach house. It’s a short walk to the water where you can sit and watch the ocean and listen to the waves crash. It’s quite relaxing and feels like another world, only 1.5 hours away from where I normally am.
There is a chance if all things line up that we may end up doing a work list at the local hospital and spend a long weekend every month down there. That would be quite a nice setup!
And finally, here’s Luna…
