Weekly Summary (15th May 22)

What a honeymoon it’s been! We discovered that we were both close social contacts recently and sometime around the writing of the last newsletter, went and tested via PCR and rapid antigen test and were…negative. Given that I started to get a very slight sore throat, I decided to stay in anyway. A few days later, our tests turned positive. We had Covid-19…

Initial symptoms weren’t too bad: sore throat and headache but day 3 and 4 were AWFUL. Fevers of T38.9 C and rigors. Oh my, the rigors. I’d literally be shivering for 30 mins straight with a little break here and there and then go again.

Sleep was basically non-existent with hourly cycles of drenching sweat and shivering cold. I don’t know if on those days I was ACTUALLY sicker or just tired from no sleep. Thankfully after the 4th day, things took a dramatic turn for the better.

Right now, as I type this, I’m about 90% back to normal. A little bit stuffy in the nose and a very slight cough. My wife (weird to write that!) has a sore throat. We’re still in isolation for another few days.

The cats have loved it for the last week given they’ve had so much more contact with us. Gary on one hand has decided to mirror the dying swan phase of the hoomans…

I could not get over just how depresso he looks!

He’s been unusually needy and clingy but it’s been really nice having him sit on my lap. He hasn’t really done that since he was a kitten. Here’s a super flattering photo of me with the cats. I was meaning to get up but he’d settled on my lap and looked so sad. I didn’t move and was asleep in no time with the paparazzi taking the glamour shots…

Hawt stuff…
