Was genuinely surprised that people noticed the email missing from their inboxes. I mean I do subscribe to regular newsletters too but takes me a while to notice if one hasn’t been there for a while.
That was a nice surprise

This is one of the few protected afternoons I have off. I’ve managed to do a PT session and catch up with an old friend. Not things I regularly get to do otherwise…

At work on a Saturday morning. Things are running well, but still there’s down time to scribble some thoughts down. On one hand, it’s nice working with friends. On the other, it’s the second last list we’re doing and I’ll be glad to have my Saturdays back for this week..especially because it means I get a semi long weekend once a month!
Weekly Summary
You know how people say that having something to look forward to is half the reward? (Or something along those lines?)
Well, in my case, this trip to Texas is like that: I’ve felt like I’m slipping back into overwork and though my reasons for going are work related, it should be a nice way to break things up and clear my head. The other thing I’ve noticed about the trip are all these little things that I’ve been meaning to do eventually are ACTUALLY getting done. I’m not even going for that long, but it FEELS like I have to sort everything out before I do go and I’m using that urgency as long as it persists!
So far this weekend, I’ve managed to do a whole bunch of chores, record 2 podcast episodes, spend time with family, try and herd contractors to get things done on the renovations AND find time to exercise while working a bit on the weekend. About the only thing I didn’t get to do was a flying lesson but that was cancelled due to the weather more than anything else!
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day given I have 17 cases to do but given it’s a very fast surgeon, if I get my skates on, I might actually have a bit of time tomorrow afternoon to pack instead of doing it the hour before I leave!
On the one hand, it’s a conference trip and I have to be AT the conference by 7am Texas time and on the other, I’m away, so it feels like it should be a holiday. I’m not sure if I’m going to be coming back more or less rested. I do want to spend a little bit of time exploring the place but I also want to use a bit of the time to catch up on a whole pile of stuff I haven’t done. I have all these half put together videos like that of Greenland, random mail time and unboxings and more that I simply never get the chance to edit!
I think one of the things I’ll do next year is dedicate 1 day a week (or at least a fortnight) JUST to do some project work. Where I’ll find that time is anyone’s guess. If I don’t, how else am I going to work on things like programming, learning to fly and even projects like this newsletter and the podcast?
As it stands, I can think of little things to do to improve all these projects, but there simply isn’t enough time to do many things apart from the little tweaks that you might’ve seen with the newsletter here.
Really does make me wonder just how people can be so productive with so many things going on…
