Well, it’s back to the usual grind in the week that’s just gone by. With one difference: I had a trip to look forward to! It’s amazing just how much the anticipation of travel is in making an an otherwise normal week feel exciting. It was my wife’s birthday I wanted to surprise her by taking her somewhere she had never been. Well the surprise sure worked! Where did we go?
Byron Bay!
Now Byron Bay has exploded in popularity in recent years with it’s own Netflix show and attracting the likes of Chris Hemsworth as a resident. Even though I grew up not far from there, I had never been to the place! Neither had my wife but she has been mentioning it for the last few years.
Now, given I like to surprise her, I decided to fly into the Gold Coast and say that our holiday was there. She suggested since Byron was so close that we should go for the afternoon – my plan worked! As we pulled up near Wategos beach, I drove into the drive of the gorgeous hotel we were staying. A dumb founded silence followed. Surprise? Tick!
Byron Bay did not disappoint! We were only there for one night but the place was just so pleasant! It was sunny and cold (my perfect weather) and full of things to do within a few minutes of town. The walk to the lighthouse was memorable in that a pod of whales and dolphins decided to come by the shore!
It was a quick trip but felt much more relaxing than the 1.5 days should’ve been. Well worth it in terms of bang for buck. That said, being at work today meant that I needed to have a quick power nap in the afternoon. This is the sight that I awoke to…
Luna still loves the basket and was just sitting there purring while staring at me sleep! Anyway, I’m late for dinner with my parents so that’ll do for this week!
